Each year, Global Alliance for Africa conducts a Therapeutic Arts Trip to Kenya or Tanzania. During the two-week trip, GAA coordinates paraprofessional trainings in therapeutic applications of the arts, which are collaboratively led by East African therapeutic artists and creative arts therapists from the U.S. and other countries. Trainings cover basic and intermediate creative arts therapies and counseling skills within a trauma informed and culturally relevant framework. Participants visit various cultural sites and an optional safari is available.

The Kilimanjaro Climb is a unique fund-raising event for the benefit of GAA’s educational and psychosocial programs. From six to fourteen individuals climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to earn donations from sponsors recruited by each climber. Certain to be a life-altering experience, the trip is designed to acquaint the group with Global Alliance for Africa’s unique and integrated approach to providing assistance for children, youth, and communities in East Africa. You will have the opportunity to visit Global Alliance programs as well as see Africa from the roof of the world!

The Executive Director’s Trip is an introduction to East Africa by the Executive Director of GAA. You will visit the ED’s favorite cities, hotels, restaurants, and sights, and he will provide you with a detailed explanation of the history, politics, economics, social movements, and development successes and failures that make East Africa what it is today.

Global Alliance for Africa arranges unique trips to Kenya, Tanzania and Ethiopia. Our trips are designed and customized to meet the interests and needs of each group, and always include an educational component of development work, as well as visits to our local African partners and program sites.

GAA has led study trips with Loyola University Chicago, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Dominican University, Georgetown, DePaul and Northern Illinois University. These trips can be designed to suit a particular subject.
