Annual Empty Bowls Community Dinner
Oak Park River Forest High School hosts the annual Empty Bowls Community Dinner, of which GAA is one of the beneficiaries of funds raised at the event. It is an evening at the intersection of good food, community and art. It aligns with one of GAA's core missions, food security.
Bowls are handmade by OPRF students, and for the price of admission, each attendee can choose a bowl and soups donated by a number of local restaurants. The meal is eaten communally in the high school cafeteria, and presents a fantastic opportunity to meet new and familiar members of the community. At the end of the evening, you take the bowl home with you as a unique reminder of the issue of worldwide hunger.
Global Alliance for Africa, the Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry, and Housing Forward are the beneficiaries of tonight's event.
