Executive Director’s Trip

“Action expresses priorities”- Mohandas Gandhi

The Executive Director’s Trip is scheduled for June 10 – June 20, 2018 is a unique journey for the those who want to learn about and experience East Africa and is not available through any tour operator.

The trip will begin in Nairobi, Kenya and introduce you to the history, social movements, religions, political issues and development strategies that are so important for understanding this part of the world.  Recently, the Kenyan people have approved a new constitution which requires a certain percentage of representatives and senators to be women.  We will also visit some GAA programs in order to expose you to grassroots development programs in Nairobi and Western Kenya.  And, of course, a trip like this has to include a trip to the famous Masai Mara, arguably the most famous of all game parks in the world.  We will then travel to Arusha, Tanzania for an overnight stop on our way to visit the Ngorogoro Crater, which also includes a game park. Tanzania is a combination of socialism and capitalism, and with the added element of Swahili Culture along the coast, it promises to be as experience unlike any other.

Certain to be a life transforming trip, the trip is designed to acquaint the group with the Global Alliance for Africa integrated approach to provide assistance for vulnerable children, women and men.  We will provide you with a personal tour of people and places in Kenya and Tanzania that is unlike any other trip to East Africa!

During the journey, you will:

  • Savor warm welcomes from the African people while visiting programs supported by Global Alliance for Africa, including its community libraries.
  • Learn about the history, social movements, politics, religion and development issues from the personal perspectives of the GAA Executive Director and a board member who has visited East Africa numerous times.
  • While interacting with local people, take a photographic safari through the short grass plains of the Masai Mara and the Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact un-flooded caldera in the world.
  • And if you choose the 3-day trip extension, you can immerse yourself in the unique culture of food, music, and spices of Zanzibar.
