Kilimanjaro Climb Sample Itinerary
Please note the number of days on the mountain depends on the route selected. The itinerary below is based on the Rongai Route.
Day 1 – Friday Departure from Chicago (or other gateway cities in the US)
Day 2 – Arrive in East Africa after a connecting flight via London or Amsterdam.
Day 3 – Begin your day with an orientation on Global Alliance for Africa and the programs you’ll be visiting. The choice of programs you will see during your stay will be determined closer to your trip date.
Day 4 - Visit more Global Alliance Programs. The warm welcome you will receive from the African people while visiting a women’s cooperative, pre-school or a private home will be one of the highlights of the trip and remembered for a lifetime. After dinner, you will have a full climb briefing and an equipment check in preparation for the climb.
Day 5 - Day one of the Kilimanjaro Climb
Day 6 - Day two of the Kilimanjaro Climb
Day 7 - Day three of the Kilimanjaro Climb
Day 8 - Day four of the Kilimanjaro Climb
Day 9 - Day five of the Kilimanjaro Climb
Day 10 - Day six of the Kilimanjaro Climb - Descent
Day 11 - You will visit one of many wildlife conservation areas in East Arica, including a possible safari in Ngorongoro Crater or in The Serengeti.
Day 12 - Second day on Safari
Day 13 - Transfer by air to Zanzibar, located just off the coast of Tanzania.
Day 14 - Swim, snorkel, walk the beaches and village, wade through the lagoon to the coral reef at low tide, sail a dhow or swing in a hammock all day long and look at the sea – the day is yours to do as you please.
Day 15 - Another day of exploration or relaxation – whichever you prefer.
Day 16 - A morning of exploration or relaxation before heading to the airport and departing for home
Day 17 - Arrive back in Chicago on Sunday afternoon
