Our Mission
Global Alliance for Africa partners with local African NGOs, religious institutions, and community-based organizations to design and implement innovative economic strengthening programs with the goal of enabling communities and households to provide sustainable care and support for orphans and other vulnerable children affected by HIV/AIDS.

Nurses for Africa Scholars Circles

Scholars Circles are an important outreach and fundraising arm of the Nurses for Africa Program. Any group of like-minded individuals can form a Scholars Circle to provide nursing scholarships for African women. Schools, nursing associations, professionals, faith-based groups, business and civic organizations and friends and families can form a circle. Each circle sets its own fundraising goals, large or small.

Sometimes the simplest fundraising ideas are the best. Existing circles have had success with some of the following ideas:

  • Dinner or cocktail party in a private home
  • Raffle for a donated timeshare vacation or other item
  • Silent auction
  • Bake sale
  • Coffee fund (coffee brewed at a workplace with donated proceeds going to NFA)
  • Art sale of handmade goods
  • Fun run or walk
  • '10% day' with local retailers who agree to donate 10% of a days proceeds to NFA
