| The Global Alliance of Students for Africa has been actively engaging students, teachers, parents and school communities since 2002. Our goal is to raise awareness about how HIV/AIDS is affecting students and families in Africa, and to foster the positive exchange of ideas and resources between schools in the United States and schools in Africa. We engage individuals and school communities through various activities throughout the entire year.
School and Community Libraries
Help us build a library!
- Structural Metal Framing $200
Believing that education is a key factor in fighting poverty, the Students for Africa are focusing their energy on the construction of libraries in five different areas of Kenya and Tanzania. It is our hope to stock libraries with donated reference, text and story books from America as well as books purchased directly from publishing companies in East Africa.
Help us Stock Libraries and Classrooms with books!
- Purchase a NEW Encyclopedia for $85
- An entire NEW Math Text book Series (35 copies) $350
SFA needs donations of new and gently used books and funds for the purchase of Kenyan textbooks and African authored books for this library.
Sponsor a Library
If you are a teacher, a student, or parent interested in really making a difference for a school and a community, consider taking on a long-term sponsorship of a school or community library. There are lots of ways to engage your own community in direct and meaningful fundraising initiatives.
- Organize a Book Drive
- Collect Text Books
- Organize a sorting and packing party
- Free Dress Day – If your school requires a uniform, see if you can schedule one (or more!) “Free Dress” Days when students bring in a donation of $5 or $10 (or more!) for the construction and development of GAA’s community libraries.
