Global Alliance for Africa is established at the request of East Africans.
1997
Initial three partnerships formed focusing primarily on health care: malnutrition prevention, cholera prevention, and HIV+ children’s health care.
1998
Malnutrition prevention program successfully treats 378 children in Western Kenya; GAA works in partnership with Nyambani Orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya to establish the Leo Toto Outreach Program in Kariobangi and Korogocho slums.
1998-2000
Assessment of programs, impact, and refocus on OVC and economic strengthening for households and communities to sustain support of OVC on their own.
2000 – Present
Refinement of conceptual framework and fieldwork approach, development and expansion of programs.
2001-2005
Cholera prevention program in Liberia reaches over 25,600 children.
2003
GAA consults to initiate EAIDSNET (East Africa Disease Integrated Surveillance Network) established at the East African Community (EAC) in Arusha, Tanzania; Consultancy funded by The Rockefeller Foundation.
2003
Tumaini Vocational Training Center built in Arusha, Tanzania.
2003
First Partners Workshop held in Nairobi, Kenya.
2004
1,018 children reached through OVC programs in East Africa.
2005
21 formally established African Partnerships.

Over 5,000 OVC reached.
